Students often ask about taking one or more of the supplements touted
by their gym-rat friends or Muscle magazine (those magazines are chock-full
of misinformation BTW). I'm into Chondroitin and Glucosamine (if you're
not allergic to shellfish) to manage or prevent arthritic joints, but
not much else other than a simple multi-vitamin. Nowadays, everything
from cereal to juices have added vitamins ("nutraceuticals"),
which I avoid judiciously. It doesn't take much of this stuff before you
get TOO much of vitamins A,D, E or K, which are toxic if too much builds
up in your system.
