CLASSES

Krav Maga is the official hand-to-hand combat system of the Israeli Defense Forces. The system is broken down into levels, rather than belts as in a traditional martial arts system. As you progress through the system, you'll see that even the most advanced techniques are based on movements learned early on.

Classes with Krav Maga DC are designed to make you into a complete fighter; someone who not only knows the combatives and self defense techniques of Krav Maga well, but also knows when it is appropriate to use them. We'll work with you to train your mind, body and attitude so that you can stay safe regardless of the situation.

Each class is one hour long, and is approximately broken down as follows:

0:00 - 0:12 Warm-up
Warm-ups in Krav Maga are generally short, and usually include some kind of aerobic activity, strength conditioning with pushups and sit-ups, and stretching. Warm-ups will be different in each class to keep things interesting, and to ensure that each student leaves with a variety of exercises that they can use to keep themselves fit when not in class.

0:12 - 0:30 Hand Techniques
This time is devoted to hand strikes such as punches, elbows and hammerfists, as well as associated defenses.

0:30 - 0:45 Leg Techniques
Just like the above section, but spent on kicks, knees and their defenses.

0:45 - 1:00 Self-Defenses
This block of time is set aside to lean and practice the many self-defense techniques of Krav Maga. We'll go through each defense thoroughly and step-by-step to ensure maximum understanding, and then practice the defenses live with partners.

Each hour will include drills to enhance muscle strength and cardiovascular conditioning, as well as drills to teach students how to operate under pressure or fatigue, defend against multiple attackers, and keep fighting spirit high for the entire duration of a defense or fight.

KMDC instructors want you to be both a strong and a smart fighter. Instructors will give examples of when it is appropriate to use techniques, what to do when an attacker is disabled, and when a student should simply run from danger. Remember, Krav Maga is about going home alive, not about being a tough guy!
